Size Guide
How our jeans fit
All current YÚNMÒ styles are straight fit — a clean, mid-rise cut that sits at the natural waist with a straight leg from hip to hem. Not slim, not wide. The silhouette that has defined heritage denim for decades.
Our sizing runs in waist inches (28, 29, 30, etc.) and corresponds to actual waist measurement of the garment, not vanity sizing. A YÚNMÒ 32 measures approximately 81 cm at the waist. If you typically wear a 32 in most brands, start there — but measure first.
How to measure
The most reliable way to find your size is to measure a pair of jeans that already fits you well. Lay them flat on a surface, buttoned and zipped, and take the following measurements in centimetres.
Waist — Measure straight across the top of the waistband, from one side to the other. Multiply by two.
Hips — Measure across the widest point of the hip area, approximately 15 cm below the waistband. Multiply by two.
Thigh — Measure straight across the thigh, 3 cm below the crotch seam. Multiply by two.
Leg opening — Measure straight across the bottom hem. Multiply by two.
Total length — Measure along the outside of the leg, from the top of the waistband to the bottom hem.
Compare your measurements against the table on each product page. If you fall between two sizes, the guidance below will help.
Raw vs. washed: sizing differently
This is the most important distinction in our catalogue.
Washed models (QĪNGYĀN, YÌNHÉ, TIĚMǍ, GŪFĒNG)
These jeans have been pre-washed at the workshop. The major shrinkage has already occurred. The measurements on the product page reflect the jeans as you will receive them. Choose your true size.
The waist may feel slightly snug the first day — this is normal. Cotton denim stretches 0.5–1 cm at the waist within the first few hours of wear.
Raw models (ÀNYÈ, MÒYÚ, YĚMǍ)
These jeans are unwashed. The fabric has not been shrunk. After the first wash, expect the following changes:
- Waist: shrinks approximately 2–3%, then stretches back to pre-wash size with wear
- Length: shrinks approximately 3–5% (2–5 cm depending on model) and does not stretch back
- Thigh and hips: minimal shrinkage, approximately 1–2%
Our recommendation for raw models: buy your true size. The waist will tighten after the first wash but will stretch back. The length will shorten permanently — if you prefer a longer inseam, consider sizing up one size.
If you have never owned raw denim before and are uncertain, choose a washed model for your first pair. The sizing is more predictable.
Heavyweight note
Our heavier models (20oz and above: YÌNHÉ, MÒYÚ, GŪFĒNG) will feel rigid and structured when new. The waistband may feel tighter than the measurement suggests because the thick fabric does not flex easily. This is not a sizing issue — it is the nature of heavyweight denim. Allow 2–3 weeks of regular wear for the fabric to soften and conform to your body.
The 25oz GŪFĒNG in particular requires patience. The break-in period is longer than any other piece in our collection. The reward is a fit that is entirely yours.
Between sizes
- If between sizes on a washed model: take the smaller size. The cotton will give slightly with wear.
- If between sizes on a raw model: take the larger size. The fabric will shrink with the first wash.
- If between sizes on a heavyweight model (20oz+): take the larger size. The stiff fabric is less forgiving in the early weeks.
